Brougham Award Nominations
Charles Brougham Award

Charles Brougham was the lead crisis negotiator for the Chicago Police Department’s Hostage Barricade Terrorist Team. As a member of a large city Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), Charlie participated in a large number of operations and had an extremely large body of experience.Charlie was always very generous with sharing the information that he had obtained through his vast body of practical experience. He was one of the early speakers and a large supporter of the Illinois Crisis Negotiators Association(ICNA).

Sadly, Charlie Brougham passed away in December of 2001. After serving many years in a dangerous profession, Charlie succumbed to a heart attack while clearing snow from the sidewalk in front of his home.

As a way to honor Charlie's contributions to the art of crisis negotiation, the ICNA elected to create an award in Charlie's name. The Charles Brougham Award was designed to be an award given to Crisis Negotiators from Crisis Negotiators. The award is meant to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of Crisis Negotiation. Because there is no greater honor than to be recognized by one's peers, it is the most prestigious award that the ICNA can bestow.

If you know of someone that you believe is deserving of such an award, please email icnaonline@gmail.com and explain why you feel this person should be nominated to receive this award. NOTE: Nominations for this award are accepted up to February 1st, 2012. Please title e-mail correspondence concerning this award as,"Brougham Candidate 2012."
